SupportMe — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 20 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TS Jamieson (“we”, “us”) handles information in the SupportMe app for iOS and Android (the “App”). SupportMe is built to collect as little as possible.
- No account and no personally identifiable information. We don’t ask for or store your name, email, phone number, address, date of birth, or location.
- Your device is identified only by an anonymous device identifier so your favourites and likes can sync.
- There is no free-text input anywhere in the App — so we never receive anything you type.
- Usage analytics are off by default and only collected if you opt in. They’re anonymous and you can delete them.
- Free (ads-based) users see ads via Google AdMob, which uses your device’s advertising identifier. Subscribers see no ads. You can subscribe to remove ads.
- Subscriptions are handled by the app stores (Google Play / Apple). We never see your card details.
- We never sell your data.
- Your data is stored on our servers in Singapore.
We do not collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
SupportMe does not collect or store any personally identifiable information. We never receive your name, email address, phone number, postal address, date of birth, or precise location. The App has no text-entry fields, so there is no way for free-text (which could contain personal details) to reach us. Everything associated with your use of the App is tied only to a pseudonymous device identifier that cannot, on its own, identify you. (Google AdMob separately processes an advertising identifier to show ads to free users — see Advertising below.)
Information we process
1. Anonymous device identifier. On first launch we generate or read a device-scoped identifier (on iOS, Apple’s identifier for vendor; on Android, a randomly generated identifier) and send it to our server to register your device and issue a security token. It is not linked to your real-world identity and resets when you uninstall the App.
2. Device and subscription details. Your platform (iOS/Android) and subscription status (ads-based or subscribed).
3. Content you create:
- Favourites — the messages you mark as favourites.
- Feedback (helpfulness). When you swipe a message left or right, we record a simple like / dislike signal for that message, tied to your anonymous device identifier. No written comment or free-text feedback is collected — there is no text box anywhere in the App.
4. Optional anonymous usage analytics — OFF by default. Only if you opt in (in the intro
or Settings → Anonymous stats) do we record a fixed, limited set of anonymous events with timestamps:
app.opened, app.backgrounded, session.started, screen.viewed,
message.viewed, message.swiped, favourite.added, favourite.removed,
feedback.submitted. These contain no message content and no personal information. You can turn this off
at any time and delete any events still queued on your device.
5. Advertising (free / ads-based tier only). If you use the free, ads-based tier, we show ads using Google AdMob (a Google service). To serve, cap, and measure those ads, AdMob accesses your device’s advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID, or Apple’s IDFA if you allow tracking) and limited ad-interaction and device/diagnostic data. This data is processed by Google under Google’s own privacy policy. In the EEA / UK, we ask for your choice via Google’s consent flow before showing personalised ads; you can choose non-personalised ads instead. Subscribers see no ads, and the advertising identifier is not used to show them ads. See Advertising below for opt-outs.
6. Purchases and subscriptions. When you buy the ad-free subscription, the purchase is processed entirely by the app store (Google Play on Android, Apple’s App Store on iOS). Your device sends us a purchase token / receipt which we send to the store to verify your subscription status. We never receive or store your payment card or billing details — those stay with Google / Apple.
7. Notifications. If you enable notifications, your device’s push token is used to deliver the daily-message notification. Disable it anytime in your device settings.
8. Technical request data. As with any internet service, our servers process your device’s IP address transiently to handle requests; it is not stored to profile you.
Advertising
Ads are shown only to free, ads-based users, via Google AdMob:
- AdMob may use your advertising identifier and ad-interaction data to select, frequency-cap, and measure ads. This processing is carried out by Google — see Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
- EEA / UK consent: before any personalised advertising, we present Google’s consent message (UMP). You can decline personalised ads and still use the App with non-personalised ads.
- You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking / Apple Advertising).
- Removing ads: subscribing removes ads entirely, and no advertising identifier is used to serve you ads.
We do not use third-party analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs, and we never sell or rent your data.
What stays on your device
- Custom widget background photos stay on your device — if you pick a photo for the widget, it’s stored only in the App’s local storage and is never uploaded to us.
Why we process this (legal bases — UK/EU GDPR)
- To provide the App (registration, syncing favourites/likes, verifying subscriptions) — contract / legitimate interest.
- Personalised advertising to free users — your consent (collected via Google’s consent flow; non-personalised ads otherwise).
- Optional analytics — your consent (opt in; withdraw anytime).
- To keep the service secure — legitimate interests.
Service providers
We don’t share data with data brokers. We use providers only to operate the App:
- Cloud hosting — Akamai (Linode), hosting our servers in Singapore.
- Google — AdMob (serving ads to free users) and the Google Play Developer API (verifying Android subscriptions).
- Apple — the App Store (processing and verifying iOS subscriptions).
- Apple Push Notification service / Firebase Cloud Messaging — only to deliver notifications you’ve enabled.
Where your data is stored
Our servers and your stored data are located in Singapore. If you use SupportMe from outside Singapore, your information is transferred to and processed in Singapore. Where this transfer is from the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the UK/EU Standard Contractual Clauses) as required. Google and Apple process advertising and purchase data under their own terms and infrastructure.
Data retention
We keep device-linked data (favourites, likes, subscription status, optional analytics) for as long as your device remains registered. Uninstalling the App discards the link to your device; you can also ask us to delete data tied to your device (see Contact).
Security
Communication with our servers uses HTTPS/TLS, and stored content is protected with access controls and encryption at rest.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. UK/EU GDPR, California CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict your data and to withdraw consent to analytics and personalised ads. Because we hold data only against an anonymous device identifier, please contact us from the device in question so we can locate it. You may also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
Children
SupportMe is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy; we’ll change the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the App.
